Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust is ready to tender for the re development of its 15 ward Roseberry Park Hospital and has novated SDP to work alongside the successful bidder.

The Trust turned to Services Design Partnership to help audit and then prepare a corrective specification as part of an improvement package when building defects at the high security hospital were discovered in 2016.

Roseberry Park Hospital provides high security and specialist mental health services to patients across all age ranges.

A major project, SDP has been providing specialist advice to the Trust as part of an expert panel, which is now ready to commission services to upgrade and improve wards.

Key to the success of the project is the construction of one new block which will act as a decanting ward while each of the remaining 15 wards are upgraded one at a time.

After a successful audit and the preparation of corrective statement SDP was then commissioned to design the M&E fittings for Block 16, which will be the decant ward while the rest of the hospital is re-developed.  That is now ready.

The Trust has already commissioned SDP to design remedial works for blocks 5 and 10, these will be among the first to be re-developed.   TEVW NHS Foundation Trust has gone to tender for a contractor and SDP will be novated to the successful company to ensure that the Mechanical and Electrical designs are implemented in line with the Trust’s and their patients’ needs.

“This is a major undertaking for an NHS Trust,” said SDP director, Chris Armistead.  “The designs have now been approved and Block 16 will be built ahead of the rest of the wards being upgraded.  Once that is ready for use, ward by ward the Trust will move patients and then complete the whole Hospital.

“IT is the start of a challenging project with SDP proud to be an integral partner with the successful contractor.”
