SERVICE Design Partnership has given Sheffield University Rowing Club £1500 for training equipment so the team can maintain its place as one of the UK’s most elite teams.
The cash will be used to buy team kit so that the 36 plus novice squads can train all year round and preserve their Lead Performance status.
The novice teams at Sheffield University have an enviable reputation for attracting first year students who have never tried the sport. The sponsorship will enable them to have access to training kit at a time when their initial costs can be high.
It is the second time that the Wakefield based company has given the University of Sheffield rowing club sponsorship. Last year they sponsored a gazebo which helps protect the team and their kit at fixtures around the UK.
Chris Armistead is MD of SDP. He said: “The team is one of the best in the UK and each member has impressed us with their determination and commitment to excel.. They are consistent across all grades and have improved year on year. Our sponsorship will help them maintain their record.”
