SERVICE Design Partnership has completed the first M&E designs for the re-build and renewal of the NHS medium security Roseberry Hospital in Middlesborough.

The company had initially been retained as part of task force to advise on how to resolve issues arising from faults discovered in the PFI built hospital in its roof, pipework ventilation and electrical systems.

Having advised on the way forward SDP, has submitted the first designs for Block 16.

This will be used to accommodate 28 patients while improvement is carried out on the other wards at the hospital.  Because Roseberry  Hospital is home to medium and high security patients it cannot be closed down.

This is the second stage of work at the hospital.  SDP has already designed a new secure car park that had to be built because Ward 16 will be built on the existing staff car park.  This provides security with lighting and entry logging systems.

The company was brought in to advise and be part of the task force as a result of its 40+ years experience working in bespoke health service projects with unique demands.
Work is expected to start early in 2019.
